Insulin Shots

Author: Samba

What can i say? Being sick with Diabetes isn’t fun, especially for a cat as old as I am. the vet told my owner that it is difficult to balance the blood sugar level with older cats but that it’s possible. So my owner started injecting me with insulin twice a day. I don’t really mind that - the needle is so small and thin I don’t even feel it. She pulls up my fur on my back and injects under the skin. And then I usually feel better for a few hours, so its worth it.

I also got new canned food, a special diet for diabetic cats. Some fancy shmancy stuff. So thats a plus. And also - everyone treats me with even more respect than before. That’s very nice! Not that I ever had problems getting respect. Most people are afraid of me because I bite and scratch (sometimes), so I get plenty of respect.

I’ve lost a lot of wieght, and I never was overweight, so I’m kind of weak. But then there isn’t very much for an old cat like me to do anyway, right? So I mostly sleep.

My owner was talking today about testing my blood sugar level at home by pricking my ear with a needle….. hmmm, I don’t think so!! that sounds like it hurts. So I will keep you posted on that tomorrow.

Good night.

Grateful list

Author: Peapod

Hey you know they say that in order to get what you want - you need to be grateful for what you already have. I get it! Being grateful for what I have keeps me in abundance instead of in lack. And when I am in abundance - I attract abundance. Law of Attraction. You know - The Secret and all that.
So lets start a grateful list. I’ll start - you all can join in any time:

  • I am grateful for the perfect weather we had today
  • I am grateful for being a cat
  • I am grateful for my family who loves me
  • I am grateful for every meal I get
  • I am grateful for trees
  • I am grateful for the internet
  • I am grateful for my friends - and cats everywhere
  • I am grateful for grilled fish

The lighter side of cats

Author: Harry

It seems that my esteemed colleagues have each marked his and her territory in this blog. Peapod is the philosopher and Samba is all warpped up in her diabetes (no offense samba - I hope you feel better!). So, someone has to LIGHTEN UP the mood around here, guys! It’s a tough job but someone has to do it, right? OK then, anyone has a good cat joke?

  • Where does a cat go when it loses its tail? The retail store.
  • What does a cat like to eat on a hot day? A mice cream cone.
  • What do cats use to make coffee? A purrcolator.
  • What do you call a cat that has swallowed a duck? A duck filled fatty puss.

OK - these are pretty bad, I agree. Let’s see, how about:

Lenny went on vacation and asked Bobby to watch over his house. About a week later, Lenny calls home and asked “How’s my cat?”.

Bobby hesitated and sadly told Lenny his cat died.

“What?! You shouldn’t have broke the news to me like that! You should have done it slowly. The first time I called, you should have told me he was on the roof. The second time I called, you should have said there was no way to get him down. The third time I called, you should have told me that you tried to get her off the roof, but she fell down and died,” explained Lenny.

Bobby apologized and went about his day.

About a week later, Lenny called again and asked “How’s my Granny?”.

There was a long silence and then Bobby replied. “Well, she’s on the roof.”
